La Mente de Cristo - 4a

Continuando con la característica Vivir, llegamos al segundo punto relativo a la fuerza del Espíritu y la mente humana.

2. Hay la mente espiritual. Es la mente natural del hombre que se ha renovado por el Espíritu de Dios. Como ya hemos visto, Romanos 12:2 nos dice que "no os conforméis a este siglo, pero ser transformados mediante la renovación de vuestro entendimiento, para que comprobéis cuál sea la buena, agradable y perfecta voluntad de Dios." Efesios 4:22-24 nos dice que debemos posponer nosotros mismos, el" hombre viejo "que está dañado con los deseos engañosos, y que debemos ser renovados en el espíritu de nuestra mente y se ponernos el hombre nuevo que se crea en justicia. Ser renovados en el espíritu de nuestra mente es la intención del Espíritu, (a pneumatos tou phrónema), lo que significa es ser poseído o controlado y dominado por el Espíritu. El Espíritu de Dios llama la mente del creyente a centrarse en las cosas espirituales. El Espíritu de Dios vive dentro del creyente y trabaja en el creyente para hacer la voluntad y el placer de Dios, Él está ahí para mantener el creyente enfocado, con la mente y el pensamiento, en las cosas espirituales.

a. El creyente mantiene la mente en desarrollando el carácter espiritual, (Gálatas 5:22-23).

b. El creyente le mantiene la mente en llevar a cabo el ministerio y la misión de Jesucristo, (Lucas 19:10; Juan 20:21, Marcos 16:15; Acts1: 8; 2 Cor. 5:20; 2 Tim. 2:2; 1 Pedro 3:15).

c. El creyente le mantiene la mente en saber, creer y entender a Dios, Isaías 43:10; Filipenses 3:10).

d. El creyente mantiene su mente en ser conformada más y más a la imagen de Jesucristo, Romanos 8:29, 2 Cor. 3:18; Col. 3:10, 1 Juan 3:2).

e. El creyente mantiene su mente en destruyendo imaginaciones y hacer cada pensamiento obediente a Cristo Jesús, 2 Cor. 10:5; Phil. 4:8

Continuing with the characteristic Alive, we come to the second point concerning the power of the Spirit and the human mind.



2. There is the spiritual mind. It is the natural mind of man that has been renewed by the Spirit of God. As we have already seen, Romans 12:2 tells us to not “be conformed to this world: but to be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Ephesians 4:22-24 tells us to put off our former selves, the “old man” that is corrupted with deceitful desires and that we should be renewed in the spirit of our mind and put on the new man that is created in righteousness. To be renewed in the spirit of our mind is to be spiritually minded, (to phronema tou pneumatos), meaning to be possessed or controlled and dominated by the Spirit. The Spirit of God draws the believer’s mind to focus upon spiritual things. The Spirit of God lives within the believer and works within the believer to both will and do God’s pleasure; He is there to keep the believer focused, with mind and thought, on spiritual things.  Let's look at the following sub-points:


a. The believer keeps his mind on developing spiritual character and fruit, (Galatians 5:22-23).


b. The believer keeps his mind on carrying out the ministry and mission of Jesus Christ, (Luke 19:10; John 20:21; Mark 16:15; Acts1:8; 2 Cor. 5:20; 2 Tim. 2:2; 1 Peter 3:15).


c. The believer keeps his mind on knowing, believing, and understanding God, Isaiah 43:10; Phil 3:10).


d. He keeps his mind on being conformed more and more to the image of Jesus Christ, Romans 8:29; 2 Cor. 3:18; Col. 3:10; 1 John 3:2).


e. He keeps his mind on casting down imaginations and making every thought obedient to Christ Jesus, 2 Cor. 10:5; Phil. 4:8).

La Mente de Cristo 4

Encontramos la palabra mente mencionados seis diferentes momentos en la Escritura del Nuevo Testamento. Podemos deducir seis adjetivos que describen el ideal de Dios para nuestra mente.



I. Vida es la primera característica. Romanos 8:5,6 dice: "Para aquellos que viven conforme al hombre carnal, solo se preocupan por lo puramente carnal, pero los que viven conforme al Espíritu, se preocupan a las cosas del Espíritu. Preocuparse a la carnal es muerte, mas la intención del Espíritu es vida y paz. "Pablo nos está diciendo que sin Jesucristo estamos muertos (Efesios 2:1). Que la mente carnal se establece en sí mismo en las cosas de este mundo, que él mismo se aleja de Jesucristo y por lo tanto muere. El Espíritu, sin embargo, jale a la mente hacia las cosas espirituales. Proverbios 23:7 nos dice que, "como un hombre piensa en su corazón, así es él." En lo que uno mantiene su mente y lo que uno piensa determinará quién es esa persona y lo que hace esa persona.


Si te concentras tus pensamientos y la mente en la cuneta, te conviertes en parte de esa suciedad en la cuneta. Una persona se convierte y hace lo que él o ella piensan. Si usted se concentra sus pensamientos en cosas religiosas, usted se convierte en religioso. Si usted se concentra sus pensamientos en Dios y la justicia, usted se convierte en santo y justo.


La Biblia señala tres cosas acerca del poder del Espíritu y de la mente humana:


1. La intención de la carne frente a la mente espiritual, la mente carnal es la mente con que nacemos, nuestra naturaleza humana, que el que heredamos de nuestros padres. La intención de la carne se centrará en tres áreas de la vida.


a. Puede centrarse en la base, los impuros, los violentos, el material y físico. Algunos se consumen con el deseo para el sexo, poder, dinero, drogas, etc.


b. Puede centrarse en la vida moral, de recto y cultural. Ellos se centran en su propia comodidad y bienestar. Ellos quieren para sí mismos y su sociedad ser lo mas refinado y educado, lo mas moral y recto posible, para que consideren enfocarse en las cosas encomiables. El problema es que una persona puede ser refinada y culta, y aún vivir en forma independiente y separada de Dios igual a la persona inmoral.


c. La intención de la carne puede centrarse en la religión: en vivir una vida religiosa de la benevolencia y buenas obras, de la ceremonia y el ritual y todavía esta persona puede vivir separado de Dios.


El punto es éste: Una mente carnal, la mente de la carne, es cualquier mente que no encuentra fundamento en Dios. La intención de la carne puede centrarse en la vida moral, cultural, en la religión y aún abandonar Dios. Es una mente que encuentra su fundamento en este mundo; en lo físico en lugar de Dios.

We find the word mind mentioned six different times in the NT Scripture. We can derive six adjectives that describe God’s ideal for our mind.



I. Alive is the first characteristic. Romans 8:5,6 says: “For those who are living in the way of the flesh give their minds to the things of the flesh, but those who go in the way of the Spirit, to the things of the Spirit. For the mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace.” Paul is telling us that without Jesus Christ we are dead (Ephesians 2:1). The carnal mind, that is the mind of the flesh, sets itself on the things of this world, that it pulls itself away from Jesus Christ and is therefore dead. The Spirit, though, pulls the mind to spiritual things. Proverbs 23:7 tells us that, “as a man thinks in his heart, so he is.” Where one keeps his/her mind and what one thinks about will determine who that person is and what that person does.


If you focus your thoughts and mind on the gutter, you become part of that filth in the gutter. A person becomes and does what he or she thinks. If you focus your thoughts on religious things, you become religious. If you focus your thoughts on God and righteousness, you become godly and righteous.


The bible points out three things concerning the power of the Spirit and the human mind:


1. The carnal mind versus the spiritual mind; the carnal mind is the mind we are born with, our human nature, that which we inherit from our parents. The carnal mind will focus on three areas of life.


a. It may focus on the base, the immoral, the violent, the material and physical. Some will consume themselves with the desire (lust) for sex, power, money, drugs, etc.


b. It may focus on the moral, upright and cultural life. They center on their own comfort and welfare. They want for themselves and their society to be refined and educated, and as moral and upright as possible so they con focus on commendable things. The problem is that a person can be refined and educated and still live as independently and separated from God as the base and immoral person.


c. The carnal mind can focus on religion: on living a religious life of benevolence and good works, of ceremony and ritual and still this person can live separated from God.


The point is this: A carnal mind, the mind of the flesh is any mind that does not find it’s basis in God. The mind of the flesh may focus on the moral, upright cultural life, on religion and still neglect and exempt God; a mind that finds its basis in this world; in the physical instead of God.
