Genesis
10 gives us sort of a verbal map of the known world at the beginning of
history. The Table we read is repeated three times, once for each of the three
sons of Noah; the author states they are composed according to their “clans,
languages, their lands & their nations.

Table of Nations is structured on family make of the three sons, Shem, Ham,
& Japheth - I tried to find an appropriate word to describe what I wanted -
suffice it to say, every nation of people are centered on these three men.

The Japhethites -
made up the geographical edges of the known world around the time of Moses -
Japheth’s & his seven sons.

Ham’s - four
sons settled in North Africa, Egypt, southern Arabia, & Eastern
Mediterrenean. Put went west of Egypt what is Libya; Mizraim (Egypt); Cush
settled south of Egypt, & Canaan in what will be later called Palestine.

Shem’s -
five boys are the semite people - It’s odd to me that when one says
anti-semitism, they are referring to anti-Jewish. But Semitic people are the
descendents of Shem, specifically his five; Elam, Asshur, Arpaschad, Lud, &
Aram.

Elam -
His descendants settled between the Medes in the north & the Persian Gulf
in the south. Located today running down the coast almost to the Straits of
Hormuz. As I understand, many Iranean Christians living in the area of Elam
have been awaiting a prophecy concerning their future which was written by Jeremiah
around 596 B.C. found in chapter 49 verses 34 - 39.

descendant of great significance is Eber who is the great grandson of Shem
& the father peleg. Eber is related to the word Hebrew. It is understood
that Eber is the ancestor of the Hebrew people - Ultimately, Abram the Hebrew
shared descent from Eber through Peleg as the genealogy from Shem to Abram
shows. It is through Abram that the blessing from Noah to Shem would eventually
be realized.

we see that at the same time the people are divided by geography & language
& ethnicity & culture, and above all, by their fallenness & sin,
which separates all men, both from each other & from God.

Is There An Answer - Is there an answer for a people that are so united by
biblical ancestry on the one hand & still profoundly divided? Permit me to
use Panama as an example. There is more of a mix of ethnic & culture &
language dialects there than here, but are just as much divided though appearing
to assimilate but really it is an acculturation; that is absorbing into society
but retaining unique cultural markings. Here, there, anywhere, the reason is
the same: the fallenness of man & sin, & above all man’s separateness
from the Lord God.

The Answer for them is - The same - It’s found embedded deep in the Book
of Foundation, the Book of Beginning - Genesis - where Adam & Eve suffered
division from God & from each other through their sin of disobedience
against the Lord God & in the oracle to Satan of that promise that an
offspring from Eve would foil his work by crushing his head: And I will
cause hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her
offspring. He will strike your head, and you will strike his heel, (Genesis 3:15
- NLT).

was a divine prophecy of the cross, describing how Satan will strike the heel
of Christ (suffering on the cross) & Christ crushing his head by His death
& resurrection -

The
only hope for Adam & Eve who were torn from God & each other & from
the world which would be also divided, is through the offspring of Adam &
Eve - ultimately, Jesus Christ.
