God allows suffering to show the need for salvation. If God would have prevented the suffering of Israelite they more than likely would never have wanted to leave Egypt. How hard is it for us today to desire a "promised new heaven and new earth" when everything is just going peachy-kin, or so we think; many of us need to be driven.
