Cristo Crucificado, un Escandolo para los Judios, para los Griegos una Tonteria.

La cruz, uno los ve en edificios de iglesia y llevado como collares y joyería. Muchos serán ofendidos como el ateo que insiste es retiro de la visión(vista) pública. Todos gritan  que es el símbolo del cristianismo,   como Stephen Seamonds dice en su libro 'Les dan a Cristo', la cruz era más un sobresalto,  y símbolo ofensivo si algo. ¿Pero realmente entiende alguien qué la cruz significa?

La crucifixión era la forma más horrenda del castigo  pulido a su máximo por los romanos. Oír en aquel tiempo de alguien crucificado era escandaloso. Pablo escribe en 1 Coritos 1:2, 'predicamos a Cristo crucificado, a judíos, en efecto, un escandalo, y a la griegos una tontería. ¿Por qué era un escollo hacia los judíos? Como era un escándalo, un castigo por la más baja de la sociedad, los criminales. La vista horrible de hombres una ejecución en la horca completamente desnuda en agonía horrible, y la vista y olor de ellos habiendo perdido todas sus funciones corporal. Ser mofado y ridiculizado por transeúntes que no se preocuparon.'... tontería a los gentiles.. '. El dolor físico atormentador se asoció con la crucifixión.  Ser fijado como un insecto era deliberado e intencional para mostrar y humillar a las víctimas. Fue diseñado para ser vulgar, repugnante y obsceno.

La cruz, mejor puesta, la crucifixión nos muestra la gravedad del pecado. El precio que todos y cada el ser humano debe pagar. Pero esto también nos muestra que Dios de amor  Él es, para Dios  mismo, tomó aquel castigo, aquella humillación, el dolor insoportable, colgando desnudo en la cruz escandalosa, siendo golpeado y desfiguró, en Él. 'Él fue despreciado y rechazado por la humanidad, un hombre de sufrimiento, y familiar con el dolor. Como uno de quien la gente esconde sus caras él fue despreciado, y le sostuvimos en la estima baja. Seguramente él tomó nuestro dolor y aguantaba nuestro sufrimiento, aún le consideramos castigado por dios, golpeado por él, y afligimos. Pero él fue perforado para nuestras transgresiones, él fue aplastado para nuestras iniquidades;..' (Isaiah 53)..

  Dios  mismo por el milagro de la encarnación tomó a nuestra humanidad, siendo 100 % hombre   y 100 % Dios, Él tomó nuestros pecados y pagó el precio debido por nosotros a fin de reconciliarse El mismo hacia  nosotros.  ‘Dios  amó tanto el mundo que Él dio a Su único Hijo procreado, que quienquiera cree en Él no debe morirá, pero tendrá la vida eterna' (John 3:16).

El tiempo es corto, hoy es el día de salvación.

Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block, and to Gentiles foolishness

     The cross, one sees them on church buildings and worn as necklaces and jewelry. Many will be offended when the atheist pushes for it's removal from public view. All shout that it is the symbol of Christianity, bu as Stephen Seamonds puts it in his book "Give Them Christ", the cross was more a shocking, revolting and offensive symbol if anything.  But does anyone really understand what the cross signifies? 

    

     Crucifixion was the most horrendous form of "capital" punishment polished to its maximum by the Romans. To hear in those days of some one being crucified was scandalous.  Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 1:2,  "we preach Christ crucified, to Jews, indeed, a stumbling-block, and to Greeks foolishness".  Why was it a stumbling-block to the Jews? Because it was a scandal, a punishment for the lowest of society, the criminals. The horrible sight of men completely naked hanging in horrible agony, and the sight and smell of them  having lost all their bodly functions. Being jeered and ridiculed by passers-by who didn't care. "...foolishness to the gentiles..". The agonizing physical pain associated with crucifixion. The word 'excruciating' is derived from the Latin word for cross, 'crux'.  Being pinned up like an insect was deliberate and intentional to display and humiliate the victims. I was designed to be vulgar, revolting and obscene.

     

     The cross, better put, the cricifixion shows us the gravity of sin. The price that each and every human being must pay.  But it also shows us what a loving God He is, for God Himself, took that punishment, that humiliation, the excruciating pain, hanging naked on the scandalous cross, being beaten and disfigured, on Himself. "He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.  Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering,  yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted.   But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities;.." (Isaiah 53).

   

     Yes God Himself through the miracle of the incarnation took on our humanity, being 100% man and 100% God, He took on our sins and paid the price owed by us in order to reconcile Himelf to us. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life" (John 3:16).

    

     Time is short, today is the day of salvation.

La Encarnación

Estoy seguro que muchos de ustedes han tratado de imaginar a Dios de algún modo. Tenemos una concepción de lo que creemos que Él puede parecer. En realidad ahora uno sabe(conoce) porque la Escritura nos dice en el Éxodo 33:20, cuando Moisés preguntó a Dios si él pudiera ver, Dios rotundamente le respondioa que no. Dios contestó que 'usted no puede ver mi cara, ya que nadie puede verme y vivir.' Aún, Dios realmente puso a Moisés en la hendidura del acantilado y cubrió los ojos de Moisés cuando Él pasó y luego permitió que Moisés viera Su espalda. Esta escrito en la Escritura que después de Adán y Eva habian sido desobediente; ellos se escondieron de Dios ya que ellos le oyeron andando en el jardín en el fresco del día. Uno sólo puede especular que Dios habia en otras ocasiones aparecido a ellos durante aquel período del día y habló con ellos. Como Dios apareció a ellos esto no dice. Tal vez antes que pecaron ellos podrían verlo a Él, tambien estamos adivinando. Una cosa está segura, Dios ha dicho que nadie puede verlo y vivir, y Jesús ha dicho que nadie ha visto al Padre.

Cuando Dios realmente hizo una aparición a los mayores de Israel ellos sólo vieron el pavimento bajo Sus pies (Éxodo 24:9-10), y cuando Isaiah “vio al Señor”, lo unico que vio era el borde de su manto (Es. 6:1). Los escritores de la Escritura para comunicar el punto que Dios es tan diferente de nosotros usaron el términos antropomórficos, es decir, porque ellos no vieron Dios, ellos usaron características humanas para describir al Dios que es toda la gloria; tan indescriptiblemente glorioso y perfecto que no hay ningunas palabras que realmente le describen. Que somos pecadores no podemos considerar Él que es toda la perfección y, como Adán y Eva, nos ocultamos de Él, porque profundamente adentro sabemos que somos culpables. Esto nos impide conocerle. Una cosa está segura y es saber lo que Dios no es. ¿Cómo aprendemos entonces algo sobre Dios con alguna cantidad de la claridad? Dejado a nosotros es imposible. Pregunta a veinte personas sobre Dios y usted va a consegir más seguramente casi veinte perspectivas diferentes. La única manera de llegar a conocer quien es y como parece Dios será que Dios toma la iniciativa Él mismo. Y es justo lo que Él hizo. En Su sabiduría infinita y perfecta y tener un conocimiento previo de la caída de creación y de la humanidad Dios ordeno antemano el plan de redención.

El primer capítulo del Evangelio escrito por el apóstol Juan describe claramente que en el "principio era el verbo y el verbo era con Dios, y el verbo era Dios...", a continuación, más adelante en el versículo 14 dice, que la Palabra se hizo hombre y vivió entre nosotros. Y hemos visto su gloria, la gloria que recibió del Padre, por ser su Hijo único, abundante en amor y verdad.

El clamor de la humanidad ha sido llorar pidiéndole que bajara y nos habla. Esto se cumplió en Cristo Jesús, quien dijo, como está escrito en Juan14:8-9 cuando Phillip pide a Jesús que mostrara el padre le contestó diciendo "no me conoces.... ¿Después de que he sido entre vosotros tanto tiempo? Quien ha visto a mí ha visto al padre." Pablo declaró enfáticamente en su carta a los Colosenses, "en Cristo, la plenitud de la vida de Dios en un cuerpo humano. En 1 Juan 1:1-2 el apóstol Juan escribe nuevamente sobre la Encarnación, "lo que era desde el principio, que hemos escuchado, que hemos visto con nuestros ojos, lo cual nos hemos mirado y nuestras manos han tocado — esto proclamamos relativa a la palabra de vida. La vida apareció; nos han visto y testificar a ella, y proclamamos a usted la vida eterna, que estaba con el padre y nos ha parecido.

La humanidad dice como Job, "si sólo sabía dónde encontrarlo; Si sólo pude ir a su vivienda"Job 23:3 (hoy NVI). Dios se reconcilio a la humanidad, llegó, en carne propia, se convirtió en uno de nosotros, sin pecado, el segundo Adán como Pablo escribe, y Dios pagó el precio para redimir el mundo a sí mismo. Tenemos su palabra, escrito en las Escrituras, testificado por los apóstoles y más de 500 testigos que escucharon, caminaron y hablabaron con Jesús, Dios en la carne.

Knowing God..

                I am sure that many of you have tried to picture God in some way. We all have some type of conception of what we think He may look like. In reality now one knows for the Scripture tells us in Exodus 33:20, when Moses asked God if he could see Him, God flatly to him no. God replied "you cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live." Yet, God did put Moses in the cleft of the cliff and covered Moses’ eyes as He passed by and then allowed Moses to see His back side. It is written in Scripture that after Adam and Eve has been disobedient; they hid from God as they heard Him walking in the garden in the cool of the day. One can only speculate that God had on other occasions appeared to them during that period of the day and talked with them. How God appeared to them it does not say. Maybe prior to their sinning they could look upon Him, that though is guessing. One thing is certain, God has said that no one may look on Him and live, and Jesus has said that no one has seen the Father.

                When God did make an appearance to the elders of Israel they saw only the pavement under His feet (Exodus 24:9-10), and when Isaiah
“saw the Lord”, all he got a glimpse of was the hem of His rob (Is. 6:1).  The writers of the Scripture used what is called anthropomorphic terms to convey the point that God is so different from us, that all our attempts to grasp or describe this Holy One is doomed to failure.  Anthropomorphic is a fancy way of say saying that the writers, because they did not see what  God, looked like they used human characteristics to describe God who is all glory; so indescribably glorious and perfect that there are no words perfect enough to fully and truly describe Him. We who are sinners cannot look upon Him who is all perfection and that is wh, like Adam and Eve, we conceal ourselves from Him, because deep inside we know we are guilty.  This keeps us from knowing Him.  One thing is certain and that is one will know what God is not.  How do we then learn anything about God with any amount of clarity? Left to ourselves it is impossible.  Look, ask twenty persons about God and you will most certainly get almost twenty different perspectives. The only way to get to know who and what God is like will be for God to take the initiative and show Himself to man (mankind).  And that is just what He did.  In His infinite and perfect wisdom and having a foreknowledge of the fall of creation and humanity God foreordained the plan of redemption.

                The first chapter of the Gospel written by the   Apostle John it spells out clearly that in the “beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…” then further on in the fourteenth verse it says, that the “Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” 

                The cry of humanity has been to cry asking Him to come down and speak to us.  This was fulfilled in Jesus Christ who said, as it is written in John 14:8-9 when Phillip asks Jesus to show them the Father He replied by saying “Don’t you know me…. After I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father.” Paul emphatically declared in his letter to the Colossians, “In Christ, the fullness of God lives in a human body.”  In 1 John 1:1-2 the Apostle John write again concerning the incarnation, “That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched —this we proclaim concerning the Word of life.  The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us.”

                Mankind does not have to say like Job, “If only I knew where to find Him; if only I could go to His dwelling” Job 23:3 (Todays NIV).  God reconciled Himself to mankind, He came, took on flesh, became one of us, without sin, the second Adam as Paul writes, and He, God paid the price to redeem the world to Himself. We have His word, written in the Scripture, testified by the Apostles and over 500 other witnesses who heard, walked and talked with Jesus, God in the flesh.
