V.33, There is no arbiter between
us, who might lay his hand on us both. 34 Let him take his rod away from me,
and let not dread of him terrify me. 35 Then I would speak without fear of him,
for I am not so in myself.
Job isn’t looking for a savior,
someone to forgive him his sins - He wants a lawyer - Now you can go from here
to the New Testament yes, but that’s not the point here. He wants someone who
can plead his case, his innocence.
Think of a teenager who is
tired of being picked on unfairly; of someone whose life is filled with
darkness and loneliness, uncertainty; a family who is trying to pick up the
pieces after their teenage son or daughter has taken their own life.
Bruised Reeds, Broken Flax.
Here I say we have a savior who heals the broken hearted - not one who forgives
our sins; Yes he does that, yes. That isn’t the point here, the issue. Job
wants someone who can argue his case before God - Represent him before God.
Jesus does that - He's been
there, in all the places where there seemed to be no justice; where violence
was done to Him -- Where He cried out ‘My God, My God, why have you
forsaken me?
He has seen the brutality, the
injustice of the world & He can therefore represent your case. He can, He
will hear you when you cry-out to Him -
